5 Things That Can Hinder Your Purpose:
- Comparing – our life to others. This can keep us from pursuing our dreams. If we constantly think others are better than we could ever be, we won’t even try.
- Lack of Persistence – we can’t just watch from the stands as our life goes by. Fulfill your purpose with conviction, persistence, and dedication. Any successful person will tell you they had the grit to make things happen consistently.
- Pride – thinking we did this by our own skill. Every sin is rooted in selfishness and pride. If we aren’t careful, we’ll slip into a pattern of making up our own rules as we go. We’ll accept some parts of the Bible and forget the rest because we think the rules don’t apply to us.
- Fear – of the unknown or of failure. Fear is crippling and can paralyze us from moving forward if we let it.
- Impatience – we force things instead of waiting on God. I’m as impatient as the next person but we have to patient when it comes to making decisions, especially life-altering decisions.
So these are the top 5 things that can keep us from God’s best. It’s also important to not walk through every open door (opportunity) or listen to everyone’s advice (when it contradicts God). We have to use knowledge and discernment together to make wise decisions as well.
One final thing I’d like to add is that we need to stay strong in the midst of pressure to conform. If you haven’t noticed, everyone has a strong opinion these days. A population of them don’t just have an opinion, they turn it into a demand that everyone should follow.
“You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NIV)
We don't follow popular opinion or our emotions. We follow the Word of God!Click To Tweet We are set apart and different from the world. Staying resolute in our faith and grounded in the Word will help keep us on track. Stay strong no matter what life throws at you friend and watch God’s best unfold in your life!A Prayer For You
Lord Jesus, thank You for all that You are doing in my life. I know You have called me to do great things. Please show me what You want me to do. Help me to not grow weary in doing Your will. Give me the persistence, wisdom, and focus to fulfill my destiny. In Jesus’ name, amen.
What advice would you give to those trying to fulfill their purpose?
Stay Hopeful!
