Spending time with God is never a waste of time so why do we treat it that way? We justify to ourselves that we don’t have time, energy, or we’d rather do something else. In reality, we gain at least 5 things from spending time with Him.

Spending time with the Lord isn’t a waste. It’s actually investing time in the most important relationship we have.

What happens when we spend time with the Lord?

  1. Direction
  2. Rejuvenation
  3. Peace of mind
  4. Strength
  5. Blessings

I can honestly say that I’ve received all 5 benefits above when I spent time with the Lord. I’ve sought Him in my darkest moments and in my celebratory moments. I’ve found unexplainable peace, comfort, direction, unexpected blessings, rejuvenation, and strength. Nothing else truly satisfies us as God will if we let Him.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ” Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

What happens when we don’t spend time with the Lord? Fear, worry, anxiety, weakness, stress, lose direction, confusion, and we miss out on God’s best for us. We can miss out on the blessings He has in store for us.

How can we spend time with God?

God is always waiting to spend time with us in prayer, conversation, worship, and reading the Bible. Sometimes we complicate the process and think we have to do something extravagant. In reality, having a simple conversation with God is a way we can communicate effectively with Him.

So many of us view spending time with God as a religious duty instead of a relationship. That’s not how it works though. God wants a relationship with us. He wants to know what’s on your mind, what you need, and He want to bless us. We simply have to open up our hearts and mouth to our Father.

A Prayer For You

Lord Jesus, thank You for always being there. Forgive us for placing You in last place and some days not even giving You any place. Show us how to prioritize spending time with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
