This is truly an unnerving time in history with the spread of coronavirus. I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I haven’t been fearful because I definitely have. What can we do during a time like this? How can we keep calm during this pandemic?

At a time like this with panic spreading, we need to remember where our true hope comes from. It’s not from the scary news we’re hearing reported. It’s not in our political leaders. It’s not even in our friends and family.

Here’s what we can do and where our help comes from…

We can do what we know to do to protect ourselves and those around us from getting this virus. Then the rest we leave in God’s hands, knowing that He is our protector, our healer, and hiding place.

“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence.”
Psalms 42:5

I’ve been praying daily for everyone around the world to have peace and protection from the virus. And that this virus would be gone very soon. I hope you’ll take up a very important fight spiritually and join me in prayer on this as well.

It’s easy to lock ourselves in our houses and binge watch TV shows. I’m not saying that’s wrong necessarily but I am saying we can’t close our eyes to the world going on around us and only be worried about ourselves.

Look out for others.

We’re supposed to social distance from other people but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to encourage others around us by text message or social media. You never know who is hurting around you or in desperate need.

I have elderly family members, neighbors, and friends with underlying health conditions like most of you. This virus could be fatal for them. Maybe you’re the one it could be fatal for. If you are, please don’t be too proud to reach out for help.

As Christians who are practicing social distancing and working hard not to spread the virus, we still need to look out for the needs of others. Please join me in doing this safely.

If you don’t have underlying health conditions and are younger, I encourage you to look out for them and be of assistance. You could for example go to the grocery store and get the items they need and leave it on their porch and let them douse it in lysol before they touch it.

See the CDC Guidelines on stopping the spread. You’ll find out things like it’s best to stay 6 feet away from people who have been exposed. The problem with that is we don’t know who has it because carriers of this virus may not show symptoms. Also keep your hands away from your face when they haven’t been washed. Keep your hands washed and sanitized with 60% alcohol.

On another important note, a close friend of ours posted recently about the importance of taking a break from the news every once in a while. I agree and believe this is very important for our sanity and mental health.

We want to stay informed but we also don’t want to be flooding our minds with negative news. I don’t know about you but it brings me down in the dumps if I watch it for long with or without this virus going on.

“I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Psalms 34:4

All that to say this…

Please don’t live in a state of panic or fear. I’ve been struggling with this myself or loved ones getting the virus. I also have friends that have gotten laid off from their jobs and don’t know what they’re going to do financially. These are difficult times.

We have to remember that our ultimate hope comes from the Lord. We do what we can and let God take care of the rest. Please commit to praying over this worldwide pandemic everyday with me.

A Call to Prayer for Peace & Healing

Lord Jesus, please be with the entire world right now. We pray that this virus would stop spreading immediately. Guide leaders around the world to make wise decisions. We ask that Your Peace would consume our hearts and minds. We trust You and thank You that You are our healer, protector, and provider. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Will you join me in prayer everyday about this?

Stay hopeful!
