During the the Women’s Olympic volleyball game USA versus China, sports commentators spoke about how some were asking why the players smiled when they made a mistake. He went on to say how it’s so important to let the error you just made be in the past and move forward to the next play. If not, you can carry the mistake in your mind the rest of the game and be miserable.
I was reminded how we need to respond this way when we make errors or go through tough times in life. We can bounce right back and learn from what we did instead of letting it bring us down. We can learn from our mistakes but if we dwell on the past, it will hold us back from reaching our full potential.
Sometimes we make mistakes that God has already forgiven us for but we don’t move on and forgive ourselves. Remember that no one is perfect but God’s grace is enough. Live life with a smile and push forward into a life where you can reach your full potential in Christ.
The USA women’s volleyball team will play in the semi-finals against Serbia on Thursday, August 18th at 11AM. They are on their way to winning a gold medal and I’m sure will continue to smile when mistakes are made on the court. Even if they don’t win the gold medal they are champions of controlling their emotions in the face of adversity.
A Prayer for You
Lord, thank You for reminding us that Your grace is sufficient. Help us to learn from our mistakes but not let it drag us down. In Jesus’ name, amen.
