It is so encouraging to see brothers and sisters in Christ on social media who aren’t afraid to share inspiring stories and the truth about God’s love. It’s so important to surround yourself with people who will encourage you, even on social media. The music you listen to has an impact your life as well. So be careful who your friends are even on social media and be careful what you watch and listen to. It can be life giving and encouraging or life taking.
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
During some of the hardest seasons of my life I can’t tell you how much it blessed me to see or hear encouraging words from brothers and sisters in Christ. God really used others who visited us and I never understood the power of a hug until then. Some of you know what I’m talking about. Listening to christian artists encouraged me greatly also. I followed different christian groups like Proverbs 31 and Air 1 Radio on social media where I felt God was speaking directly to me through them.
Encourage one another and build each other up. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
One of the main reasons I even share my ramblings and words of encouragment is because of how it impacted me during really dark seasons. I want to help and encouage others like I was in the midst of heartache. There were numerous times when I was caring for my dad when I was mentally and physically exhausted. In the middle of the night when he kept needing me I was scared and felt alone. Those were the moments when God outpoured His love and peace like I’ve never experienced before. One of Kari Jobe’s hit songs came out during that time in my life called “I Am Not Alone” that really comforted and strengthened me.
There’s no way I could’ve made it through like I did without God’s help. He used brothers and sisters in Christ whether they knew about it or not. It’s important to listen and do what God puts on your heart because it could just be what someone needs to keep going another day.
I really believe God uses all things for our eventual good as Romans 8:28 says. He is showing us how much He loves us if we would just stop and listen a moment. Blessings are in disguise sometimes. Be careful not to overlook the small things or miss the silver lining. There is always something to be thankful for!
