I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be on my lips. Psalm 34:1
This verse has been on my mind all day. I finally looked up the Bible verse and just love reading this! You know it’s easy to praise the Lord when things are good. In fact, it’s so easy we sometimes forget to say thank you to the one who blessed us.
In the bad times, it’s even more difficult to praise God because we don’t feel like there is any reason to be thankful. On the contrary, you show your dedication to your relationship with Father God when you learn to praise Him in EVERY circumstance.
You see God is still on the throne whether life is upside down or right side up for us. Even when you can’t see that God is working out everything for your good, you can rest assured He is. God causes ALL things to work together for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
Three important words from Romans 8:28 I haven’t always noticed are those who love God. Now if you love God, you will no longer do things you know are against Him. We are called to be doers and not just sayers of the Word. So if you are going through a rough time and struggling to trust God and praise Him, I challenge you to examine your heart. Do you really love God as you say?
My mom taught me, in one of the most difficult situations we were facing as a family years ago, to praise God even in the midst of a storm. She showed me how to pray and thank God for what He is doing to work things out for our eventual good. To even praise Him for what He will do.
This helped me get through the most difficult time I have ever faced when my dad was battling cancer a couple of years ago. Let me tell you I would not have made it through this time without raising my hands in bed and praising the Lord nearly every night when I was at my weakest. And most recently this has helped me have faith and hope in God regardless of our home and job situation.
You see I was laid off along with hundreds of others from my job not that long ago. This took place while we were looking to buy a house. Guess what, we have a house under contract now and I landed a job just today. My husband and I have prayed every day praising God and thanking Him for providing for us even when we can’t see it. We also let God know we trust Him and His timing. It wasn’t easy to have a great outlook on life in hard times but when you place your trust in God it is. You can rest assured you will be taken care of. God’s timing is perfect and He is a good Father!
God is the life, the truth, and the ONLY way to experience true peace and make it through all the seasons of life. I don’t know whether you have lost a job, are looking for a spouse, are battling cancer, or if life is great for you right now. I do know the secret to be successful in this life is praising God in the good and bad times.
A Prayer for You
Father God, forgive me for not acknowledging You and thanking You daily. You are so worthy to be praised. I place my trust in You to make a way even when I can’t see it. I give You all the glory and praise for who You are and what You are accomplishing in my life. Thank You for providing for me and my family. In Jesus’ name, amen!
