Merry Christmas y’all from my family to yours! We watched the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” just the other night with family. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it! Garrett’s family, my in-laws, watch this once a year around Christmas time as part of their Christmas tradition.
Every time I see it, it reminds me of what’s truly important. God truly cares for us and has blessed us with friends and family. If we’re being real, this matters more than how much money we make or how far we travel.
Watching “It’s A Wonderful Life” this year something new hit me that hadn’t before…
Lately, I’ve felt overwhelmed like I’m not making a difference in this world. I try my best to do what I can but there are SO many people hurting that I haven’t reached. This movie proves that we are truly making an impact in this world even if we don’t realize it.
What happens in the movie?
The main character George Bailey, played by James Stewart in “It’s A Wonderful Life” was at his wits end facing bankruptcy and jail time due to losing 800 dollars as a bank executive. That was a lot of money then.
George went home defeated to his wife and kids. But, he let his anger get the best of him losing control in front of his family. Then George left the house for some air and was tormented by his thoughts.
He believed 3 negative things: he was a disappointment to his family, he wasn’t making a difference, and he was better dead than alive. George then contemplated killing himself.
But then an angel was sent to him to show him that life is worth living. He showed him what life would’ve been like if he had never been born. George saw that people would have been in a very bad place without his impact. He gained a new appreciation for life.
Reflection
I say all if this to tell you that YOU MATTER. Your life is worth living. God’s not done using you until you’ve breathed your last breath here on Earth.
Don’t give up on helping others when you feel like you aren’t making a difference because YOU ARE. So keep your head up and don’t lose heart! I’m sure it would shock us how many lives we have positively affected.
Remember how important friendships and family are. Show others that you care with your time spent with them. Let them know how much you love them and are proud of them.
A Prayer For You
Lord Jesus thank You for creating us for a purpose. Thank You for giving us a reason to live. Show us how we can love and help others every day. Give us the strength to continue our good works. In Jesus’ name,

I think being so connected to everything that is happening in the world means reaching people we may not have otherwise (like in my case, I met my husband online before he had met Jesus, and was able to introduce him while we were still just friends!) but it also means seeing an overwhelming amount of hurt and tragedy.
The reality is everyone we meet has some level of need. This was a nice read, and it is important to not dwell on those negative thoughts that invade our minds. They are not from God!
Keep up the good work!
Wow that’s awesome you were able to reach out and share Christ with your husband while you were still friends! How long have you been married now?
Ministry online seems almost endless since we can reach people all over the world instantly we may never see. We just have to learn to utilize it effectively which is part of what I’m striving towards. Do you blog as well?
Yes my goal is to keep my thought life focused on the positives this year.
