In a world today where many people are choosing hate and violence – what gives? If we aren’t careful we can become not only fearful but bitter towards people who don’t agree with us. Bitterness can evolve into hate. God isn’t in the business of hating He is in the business of loving ALL people.

You have an opportunity to be a light in this dark world by choosing to be love. God made us all distinctly with unique gifts and varying perspectives. We also have different life experiences that shape how we view the world around us.

He dearly loves people of every race, religion, social status, political party, gender, culture, and so on. No one is left out or too far from the love of God. It’s important to realize that all people are equal and equally loved by our Creator. We need to start doing the same.

Society doesn’t know what love really looks like. Society tells us do what feels good but our feelings are sometimes deceptive. For example, we may not feel like being kind to others when we are in a bad mood. As mature individuals in Christ we can choose to overcome feelings with God’s help.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:12-13

You can love everyone, even others that you strongly disagree with. I’m not saying you need to accept what they say or do as truth but listen and be respectful. I’m not saying join them in doing things that don’t line up with the Word either. You can still be kind, show hospitality, and love others around you with God’s grace.

Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to bring hope and a future for all who call on Him. Let’s be the light in the darkness shining so bright that others want what we have. This world is looking for hope. Will you let God shine through you to others?

A Prayer For You

Heavenly Father, we thank You for reminders like this where you reveal how much You love not only us but the entire world. Teach us how to love everyone we come into contact with how You do. Let Your love shine through us to the world every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
