We know there is a time for everything from Ecclesiastes 3 but what about the unknown season? That season of life where you don’t know what’s next and are just waiting. What do we do in these seasons?
Call me crazy if you want but about a month ago, I heard the words that life is about to get harder. I thought are you kidding me, I thought ‘it’s been tough enough already and I’m ready for a break’?!
You see my grandpa who I call Papa has been diagnosed with a lung disease requiring him to be on oxygen. The outlook is grim for this type of diagnosis. Watching his health decline has been very painful because he has been a father figure to me.
Also, for over a year now, we’ve been having internet issues which affect our income. For those who don’t know me that well, my husband streams full-time on Twitch and relies heavily on our internet connection.
We’ve had several visits from our Internet Service Provider, we have upgraded to the best internet they provide, and were told by that we just live in a bad internet area. They said in fact that Oklahoma’s internet lines are some of the worst in the country. Well that was encouraging news to hear, huh?!
Meanwhile, we’ve had a fence, that is literally falling apart, a dishwasher rack break but it’s still usable, along with other family and work issues. I finally came to a place where I felt at peace FINALLY. I truly trusted that God will provide for us and take care of us.
I like to know and plan for things up ahead. So this season of unknowns where I feel stuck and like I can’t do anything but wait, drives me crazy!! Things are bigger than me and we aren’t sure what to do. I still have that peace and assurance that God is going to take care of us no matter what may come.
I’m not sure if things will really get harder before they get better for us. When our heater quit working this past weekend during Oklahoma’s first cold front, I had to remind myself that my trust is in God. In the meantime, I’m not going to let worry and fear steal my peace. Instead, I’m going to have faith in a God that spoke the earth into existence.
What should we do in the unknown season of life?
You might be in a season of waiting right now and don’t know what the future holds. Maybe things are spiraling out of control and you just don’t know what to do and things are beyond your control. Know that God isn’t ignoring you. He is working things out for your good even when you can’t see it. This is why we are told to walk by faith and not by sight.
You can’t live in fear and be at peace at the same time. A friend of mine recently said something that spoke to my unsettled mind: you can’t have FAITH and FEAR at the same time. We’re in this together because I’m going through it right now! So let’s let peace wash over us in every situation we face as we place our full fledged hope, faith, and trust in God.
One thing to ask yourself during difficult seasons of life is this: what is God teaching me? If you take it a step further, ask yourself: am I learning the lesson? He might be teaching you patience by throwing irritating things your way. He might be teaching you how to overcome anger and bitterness. I believe God is teaching my husband and I that we can rely on Him to provide for us. See also 3 Ways To Fight Your Battles.

A Prayer For You
Lord Jesus, thank You for working behind the scenes on my behalf even when I can’t see it. I know You aren’t ignoring me even though it feels like it. Please show me how to fully rely on You and so that I can have peace that surpasses all understanding. My hope is in You Lord and I will no longer be ruled by fear! In Jesus, amen.
What season of life are you in right now?
Stay hopeful!

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Yes, another good verse on faith!
