As we enter the Christmas season it is important to understand that not everyone is excited about Christmas. Some are facing financial difficulties, broken marital or family relationships, health issues, etc. Many are thousands of miles apart from their loved ones this year. Some are not as fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful families. For many it could be their first Christmas with an empty chair as the table that a loved one used to occupy. Sadly, there are those who are overcome with loneliness, depression, and grief.
So when you get caught up with the stress of checking things off your to do list this Christmas, remember to be mindful of others who are struggling. There might be a coworker dreading the holidays because their mother who passed away recently loved Christmas. There might be a cashier struggling to buy their kids a gift. I find myself getting caught up in my own little world like so many of us do. Join me in working to make someone’s load a little lighter.
If you are the one facing hard times this holiday season, remember that you will get through this. It might be painful and unimaginably difficult, but God will help get you through. Take everyday as it comes. He has a plan for your life and hope for your future. Cast your cares on God because He cares for you. He will help you get through it.
A Prayer For Comfort
Lord please bring peace and comfort to my dear friends who are going through hard times this Christmas season. Lord hold on to them and give them reassuring peace that surpasses all understanding in the shelter of Your arms. In Jesus’ name, amen.
