Peace is hard to come by these days. So many people are anxious and on all kinds of medicinals seeking relief. I’m not here diminish what you’re going through or judge you for using medicinals.

I am here to share a Biblical method of finding peace that is unmatched by anything. Let’s explore 3 ways to find peace in life.

So many non-believers ask this because they don’t understand why Christ followers can handle things so well… ‘Why do Christians seem so strong and have peace in the midst of sorrow and trials?’ Bad things happen to good and bad people.

It doesn’t matter if Christians lose their job, loved ones, or get a bad doctors report. They remain confident in God leading to their peaceful disposition.

No Christians aren’t perfect. We struggle too but the difference is that we have access to the power of peace when we ask for it. Not everyone taps into this power. Christians have the Prince of Peace who is always with us providing that peace. When we ask for peace, God will be faithful to give it to us.

  1. PRAYER

At different times in my life I’ve reached the point of desperation. I’ve cried, shouted, and even whispered for God to help me. Guess what, He always came through. No I didn’t hear an audible voice with clear direction but He quieted my mind and fears.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 NASB

  1. THOUGHTS

It’s not just coincidence that prayer and thoughts are discussed together in Philipians. Paul is explaining how to overcome stress and anxiety strategically to an overwhelmed group of people. Sound familiar? You and I struggle with this too.

If we truly want peace, it takes intentional action on our part in prayer and in our thought life. Below is a verse that explains that we should think about good things and in place of bad ones. The easiest way to begin dwelling on good is to study encouraging scriptures (from Psalms, Proverbs, etc.). I will delve deeper into this in my next post.

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”

Philippians 4:8 NASB

  1. ACTION

The third and final key to successfully finding peace in life is action. If we want to have peace we have to put aside our self desires and follow the Lord’s will. If you aren’t sure what the Lord wants you do then check out the 5 references below that will give specific instruction.

A Prayer For You

Lord, give me the courage to step outside of what is safe and comfortable as I trust You to cover me with your all-sufficient grace. Holy Spirit teach me how to grow my capacity to handle life’s challenges from a posture of trust and expectation of good. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me, even when I don’t see it. You are my refuge and my strength and with You, all things are possible! ~Brian Houston
