Are you really living or just going through the motions?

Have you ever seen a person who was given a few weeks to live start living differently? They probably started noticing all the small things they had missed before. They might have made the phone calls that were long overdue.

When’s the last time you looked up at the clouds or stopped to look at a flower moving in the wind? When is the last time you checked up on your long lost friend or family member you used to be so close to? When’s the last time you told your friends and family how thankful you are for them?

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to just go through the motions of life. I want to breathe deeply and enjoy the life I’ve been given. I don’t want to miss all the blessings I’ve been taking for granted. I want to have a thankful heart. The song below reminded me of just how sweet life can be when we take notice of it.

“Some days you start singin’

And you don’t need a reason

Sometimes the world’s just right

Your clear eyes ain’t even blinkin’

Got a heart full of grateful

For all you’ve been given

Some days you just get by

Yeah some days you’re just alive

Some days you’re livin’”

-“Living” by Dierks Bentley

We can’t let the enemy steal our joy or peace. One thing that really gets under the enemies skin is when we continue to proclaim the truth of God’s promises for our life in the midst of trouble. The truth that God is not taken by surprise by anything we experience and has already made a way in advance for our good.

While we are in the waiting or in the thick of a storm and can’t see a way out, we must remember that God is still with us and fighting for us. There is a spiritual battle going on not only in your heart and mind but all over the world right now. We must remain strong in our faith and pray for God’s will to unfold in and through every person and situation.

God wants us to enjoy life and notice everything He has blessed us with. Join me in striving to have a heart of gratitude no matter the circumstance. There’s good that can come out of every situation but sometimes we just have to look a little harder. Let’s not miss life going on around us!

A Prayer For You

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to all the things I’ve been missing and blessings I’ve been overlooking. Thank You for everything that You’ve done, all that You’re doing, and for all that You will do. Thank You for always being with me and making a way even when I can’t see it. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Stay hopeful!
