Time is a precious commodity. When we’re young, we wish it would hurry up. As we grow older we wish we wonder where the time went. I cringe thinking about how much time I’ve wasted on social media, watching TV, and being lazy. Those things aren’t all bad but there is something missing.

Christians are nice for the most part and show up to church once a week. We sometimes volunteer our time and give to charity. But what if I told you those things are good but we are missing one HUGE thing…

How much time are we REALLY spending with God? Is it once a week, a few times a week, or not at all? We will miss out on God’s blessings in our lives when we don’t make time for Him.

So many Christians are living in a silent relationship with God. A relationship is meant to involve two parties interacting and spending time with one another. The most important relationship we have is with God. The best use of our time is spending time Him.

God wants that time with us because He loves us so much. He wants to share with us how to best utilize our gifts. To bestow wisdom and peace in the midst of every situation.

I realized that I’ve been putting Him last on my daily to-do list when He should be first. My goal is to spend time with the Lord every day in prayer and reading. Sometimes I’ll spend time worshipping God in my home too.

I encourage you to join me in putting God in 1st place like He deserves. For you, this could look like praying and reading the first 5 minutes of your day, reading a devotion at night, or reading 1 chapter of the Bible on your lunch break.

Personally, I’m more of a morning person and like to read the “verse of the day” when I wake up and pray on my way to work. I get notifications from the Bible app at around 6 AM every morning to start the day with my mind right. Do whatever works best for you but do something!

“In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.”

The Creator of the Universe is knocking at the door of your heart but will you open it to Him with your time?

A Prayer For You

Lord Jesus, thank You for wanting to spend time with Me. Forgive me for all the times I have ignored You. I don’t want to miss out on Your perfect plan and blessings. Help me to keep You first in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Stay hopeful!

In what ways can you make an effort to spend more time with God?
