broken

No one understands what I’ve been through. No one understands how I feel. I don’t have any strength left to go on. Have these thoughts ever crossed your mind before?

Maybe no one on earth can understand what you are going through but God can see and cares deeply. He sees every tear you cry and even knows the number of hairs on your head. He cares about every detail of your life.

God knows the secrets of your heart. He does not condemn us when we cast our cares and confess our sins to Him. He offers grace, forgiveness, peace, and strength to us to be overcomers. When we don’t have enough strength to pray, just saying “Jesus” can be bring peace in the midst of our storm.

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

The only kind of love that never fails comes from God. On Earth people will fail us. Tragedies will strike and damage will be done to us and others around us. People look to blame somebody and sometimes blame God. God isn’t to blame though.

The bible says that God is love. If God is love, how can He hurt us? He wouldn’t because that isn’t His nature. God loves His creation and His people.

We can’t find this love from anywhere else other than God because He is perfect. Others will fail us but God will never fail us. We are called to be overcomers and doers of good and not evil. We are more than conquerors and can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Keep your head up and put your trust in God. Only He understands and can give you what you need to get through the darkest of times.

The Lord doesn’t promise us that life won’t be overwhelming and spin out of control. Tragedies will happen it’s inevitable. We live in a sinful world full of diseases, violence, murdering, and evil. He does promise to give us what we need to get through the hard times and never leave our side. I’ve experienced this first hand.

In the hardest time of my life, I was about to go see my dad in his final moments of living and I panicked. I literally was about to walk in his room but felt like throwing up and ran to the bathroom. As I splashed cold water on my face with trembling hands, I looked in the mirror and saw an emotional wreck of a person.

A verse came to mind that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13. I remembered my dad never wanting me to leave his side because he said I was his rock and needed me. I was not about to let my dad down! In that moment I begged God for strength to be there for my dad, my little sister, and mother. I told myself I can’t do it alone BUT WITH GOD I CAN!

With God’s strength alone I was able to hold my dad’s almost lifeless hand and my little sister’s hand as my dad took his last breath. My sister began sobbing and I grabbed her and held on tightly. It wasn’t easy but I wasn’t alone and had enough strength to bear it. In fact, everyone in the room described feeling a “sweet peace” in the room during those last moments. God does care about every facet of our life and is there in our darkest moments. God’s love never fails- I can’t emphasize this enough.

Romans 8:28 was my dad’s favorite verse. It’s on his gravestone right now. This verse show’s us that God can turn things meant to harm us into something beautiful. Store up treasures in Heaven and not on this Earth. Our time will pass and I urge you to not miss the reason you are here. God has a plan and loves you deeply.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Every time I think of my dad I am reminded of how good God is. My dad is no longer suffering but is rejoicing in Heaven. He turned my dad’s life into a testimony of hope for those who turn from God but still have the opportunity of forgiveness. Dad found God’s grace and was given a second chance by going through this. I will be forever grateful to God for this and proud of my dad for his impact on others. This is my Broken Hallelujah.
