Laugh if you want but a few months back I thought I saw a glimpse of Jesus when looking in the mirror deep into my own eyes. Not that I’m perfect or more holy than anyone, but rather I felt God was showing me something. A verse came to mind when this happened from Genesis 1:27 that explains that we were created in the image of God. My reflection has Jesus in it because I was made in God’s image and so does yours. I realized that how we live our lives is a direct reflection of our Father God.

Our Actions Should Reflect Love

All of our actions point to where our heart is. Our hearts can point to our own selfish desires and ambitions or they can point to God. If you call yourself a Christian, I challenge you to examine your life and see if it truly reflects God.

Below is one of my favorite verses in the Bible describes what love truly is.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never fails…”

Love is the heart of God. When we have an intimate relationship with God, we naturally become like Him. This love becomes evident through a lifelong process of building character and striving to be like Him because we love Him. The love that we experience will begin to overflow into every facet of our lives.

Do your close friends, coworkers, family members, or even people you pass by on the street know you are a Christian? We are known by our actions day in and day out. We are called to a higher way of living. This means that we encourage, empathize, and bring hope to others around us. We have been redeemed and can now share the hope of new life in Christ.

If you haven’t been through a tragedy in life or been treated unfairly, you will. How we respond to these situations is the single most important way of showing the maturity of our walk with God. We can’t do anything to change traumatic events we experience or how other people treat us. We can control what we do in response. This is when we have the opportunity to live out our faith and trust in God.

What will you choose?

A Prayer For You

Father, we pray that you will draw us closer in a relationship with You today. Let love overflow in every area of our lives so that we are living examples of Your love. We pray that You would help us to encourage and show love to everyone we come into contact with. Help us to never take for granted the grace and love you have shown for us all. Help us to be thankful for what You have blessed us with and never grow weary in doing good works. In Jesus’ Mighty name, Amen.
