By nature, I am a skeptical, analytical and logical thinker. In high school and college, I began to do more soul searching for why I was here and if the Bible and God were even real. Below, I’ll give you logical and emotional reasons why I came to truly believe in the Bible.

My logical reasons for believing in the Bible:

  1. The Bible has the largest known volume of manuscripts, more than any other historical document.
  2. The Dead Sea Scrolls date back to 250 BC to 68 AD.
  3. Actual events referenced in the Bible were proven from historical documents other than the Bible.
  4. Biblical prophecies that have come true hundreds of years later.
  5. Multiple eye-witness accounts recorded Jesus’ life and lined up with each other.

My emotional reasons (that became spiritual) for believing in the Bible:

  1. I had this unexplainable drawing of the Lord.
  2. I was never fully satisfied with anything or anyone else until God.
  3. Feeling convicted for my sins.
  4. Experiencing unexplainable peace in heartbreaking moments after praying.
  5. Being freed from a life of bitterness, hatred, and anger towards my Dad.
  6. Experiencing strength during my weakest moments after praying.
  7. Experiencing joy and a sense of well-being that goes beyond my circumstances and feelings.
  8. Feeling God speak directly to me from reading the Bible.

These are the reasons why I came to believe the Bible was true. I believe it wasn’t just made up by a bunch of bored people with nothing better to do. It’s real and has so much historical proof and accuracy, even more than I’ve explained to you.

My Story

I came to a place where I believed in God and even accepted Jesus into my heart but didn’t apply the Bible to my life in the way that I lived. I began doubting God’s existence and the validity of the Bible.

It sounds confusing but I used to believe in God but wanted to live how I wanted to anyway. Several years ago now, I finally stopped living for myself and “doing me” and started living out my faith in God. In other words, I put my money where my mouth is and quit living like I didn’t believe in God. You could actually tell I was a Christian by how I lived my life publicly and in secret.

I quit hurting myself and those around me that I cared about. God softened my attitude towards the false idea that Christians are boring and never have fun. I watched God transform my life of confusion and unsatisfaction into peace and joy.

As I’ve grown closer in my relationship with God, I’ve experienced an inner peace that had nothing to do with my circumstances. In fact, people didn’t understand why I was able to handle situations the way I did because they were so difficult. I am a much happier and satisfied person after accepting Jesus into my heart and living out my faith.

Don’t Knock It Before You Try It

You have to come to a place where you truly know for yourself whether you believe in the Bible or not. You might be led more by your mind rather than your heart and that’s okay. If that’s the case, don’t be afraid to do the research and find out for yourself.

It seems so many atheists who don’t believe in God, Jesus, or the Bible are afraid of looking into if it’s real. By this, I mean seriously diving deep into research if it’s real.

Bottom Line

The implications of if the Bible is real would mean that there is a heaven and hell after we die. And if we have broken any of the 10 commandments ever, that would mean hell for us. If I were an atheist or questioning God, that would be enough for me to at least look into this for the sake of myself and my loved ones. Also for the sake of finding out what the truth is and why I am here.
