Being Mentally Strong Part 3
Discover how to build a stronger relationship with God and learn the meaning of “God won’t waste our pain” as a Christian. I’ll explain how we can shift from trust to confidence in God which will build our mental and spiritual strength as Christians. God can turn any grim situation around in our favor.
How can we transition from merely trusting the Lord to having complete confidence in Him? As Christians, this shift in perspective can help us develop mental strength. We can learn to trust God’s ability to turn any situation around. We’ll also discuss what “God turn it around” means.
We’ve been on this series of being mentally strong where in Part 1 we really get in the trenches and discuss the dirty A word, anxiety, and last week in Part 2, we talked about if it’s okay to not be okay. Today, we’re learning that we can not just get by but we can THRIVE by confidently trusting the Lord.
Have you heard of the term, failure to thrive? Well, it means a baby is unable to keep enough weight to “thrive”. This is a term I’ve come across in all my research on how to make sure my little girl is thriving. Well, I’m not saying we need to get hefty and put on some weight but I am saying that as Christians, we don’t want to have failure to thrive in our walk with the Lord. He has so many good things planned for us according to His Word.
There is so much goodness in the devotion Jesus Calling. It always has a word for me and today was no different. This verse is a huge part of my inspiration for writing this post. Read these words thoughtfully. Proverbs 3:5-8 says “Lean on, trust, and be confident in Me with all your heart and mind.”
“Don’t waste your pain” Meaning
If it’s not good, our situation, then God is not done with it yet. He is not going to waste our pain. On my dad’s birthday today, Romans 8:28 on his gravestone is a very fitting verse that reminds us that God will bring good out of even the most hopeless, dark situations. It may take time but we can trust the process, knowing God is working on our behalf even if we can’t see it.
Let’s Break It Down
So how can we thrive by confidently trusting the Lord? By taking every thought captive and refocusing it on the good and on God. We can worship our way through our battles. Believe me, I certainly have and it works.
Anytime we become anxious now and have challenges, we can smile knowing that not only are we going to make it through better on the other side but we’re also going to be blessed on the other side of it.
God Turn It Around Meaning
“God Turn It Around” means that He can turn any situation around for our good just like Romans 8:28 describes.
“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.”

The Bottom Line
Even in the face of bad news or our enemies trying to kill us, we can confidently trust the Lord because we have Him on our side and He will care for us. He will bring about good on our half.
God will not waste our tears and pain. He will turn it around. Remember we can have victory in our lives and every every situation because we serve a victorious God! Hallelujah, praise the Lord God!
A Prayer For You
Dear Lord, all of our hope is in You. We need You right now to turn our situation around. Give us confidence and strength in You that You will turn it around for our good. We trust You Lord. You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end and Yours alone is the victory. We praise Your name God. Show us how to trust You and worship our way through our battles. In Jesus’ name, amen!
